WITHIN REACH

Continuing on in Mary Hett's book, "Wrap, Stitch, Fold & Rivet", I am certainly discovering something about myself and my style, that I had not noticed before, but maybe never had the opportunity, or maybe it's just developing. A few times now a number of people have referred to my work as pretty, and rustic together. I have never thought as anything I did as being pretty, but I'm starting to embrace that terminology. I told Kristen of Waking Beauty Designs that I thought her work looked chabby chic, it has that airiness about it. I think my work looks heavier than that, but I don't exactly have a word or term to describe it. I would be interested to know if you do?! Please leave a comment if you care to share.

p.s. I will be in the fall issue of Stringing, and July, August, and September issues of Bead Trends

Congrats, Sharon! I am so proud of you! and your newest piece is lovely.! I'm still thinking about the terminology, I don't like it too much, because I don't want to get stuck in one box, when there are soooo many ways to create. This doesn't mean I don't think your jewellery is pretty, I just don't like to think in categories.

Hi Sharon, Love your work. Congrats on Bead Trends. What an honor. I do wirework also incorporating my lampwork beads. New to this blogging thing! Have to have my kinds help me.

Hi Sharon,

If I were to give your work a one word description for me it would be Striking. Your pieces always illicit an emotion. There are many pieces that are pretty but never create a lasting memory or require the viewer to become involved. Your pieces on the other hand compell the viewer to notice, explore, become involved with the piece. Thus a memory is created.

I guess the short winded explanation is your work can be described as striking because it demands a response from the veiwer :)

For me the word that defines your work is eclectic. From rustic to gorgeous, sometimes romantic and beautiful, sometime modern. Every time that I see one piece of your work is a different style. I think it depends on what you want to express through your art
