APPLE PIE

It's been a loooong week.  I wasn't feeling well this week, and that set me back a lot. I have an appt with my jewelry boutique lady next Sunday, so I have been trying to get a lot of new pieces made, but that has been slow. Today I felt pretty good, and since we went for a fall drive yesterday, and bought lots of fresh apples, it is apple pie time here!   The tool above is my all time favorite, a vintage pastry cutter that works for me like magic!

My pie crust...sloppy, but effective!

Here is my daughters favorite kitchen helper, a ceramic pie bird we bought on one of our trips to Maine...he looks pretty happy here!

Here he looks a little less happy, but he is still singing!  Turns out the pie is pretty darn good! I am pretty darn tired, but so worth it.  Now that this is out of my system, it's time for art....hopefully some paper art soon.....but have to finish up my jewelry first! (Just so ya know, the pie is really not burnt on the edge, but rather a  very dark syrupy brown,  lighting is not the best in my kitchen, .........oh so yummy!)

Enjoy this upcoming week, and have a piece of pie!

WITHIN

Within is a word that means a lot to me and that I like to use a lot in my artwork, even jewelry.  It is a place that I reach to for comfort, knowledge, and truth. It distinctly tells me most things I know but do not always believe, or want to. It is something that lives inside me and sets me free.
I glued various papers, some vintage, in a layout I thought felt good, and used a purchased Renaissance woman image......gave her wings using rubber stamps.  The "within" stamp I carved myself a while ago. I really like as I stepped back how she seemed to be floating above everything. I usually look for grounding in my art, but I thinks the floating is a wonderful feeling.

Thanks for visiting today, and have a wonderful week!

ICONS AND BEAD LOVE

For me, no matter what your beliefs, race, or culture, images of icons instantly give me strength and a positive feeling.  I seem to be compelled to make these types of jewelries at times...maybe my inner self needs them just then, or to be reminded of good in the world. In any case, I enjoy it.....it raises a personal level of satisfaction for me.

And then there was the recent trip to the bead show...ahhhh, need I say more.....

Hope you are finding your inner peace this week.  Thank you for visiting!

LENNA.S PRAYER FLAG SWAP

Recently, my good friend Lenna hosted a prayer flag swap, where each participant created 3 prayer flags and three were sent back in return.  It was the MOST AMAZING swap!  The beauty, creativeness, and diversity of each one is incredible, and I am honored to share with you the three that I received!

The  "HOPE" flag was created by Sabine Schneider of Germany!  She painted her tree with glitter,  I love that!  and painted the word Hope on the fabric.  I forgot to show the fabric piece on the back that says in her own language...."Who fights can lose, who doesn't fight has already lost."

This "Serenity flag was created by Val Cowan.  I think the image of the angel in the background is so beautiful with the words printed on top....

And this flag of a fabric collage of wonderful bits with the image created of a bird is by Constance Taylor.  Constance has created a magical feel with her combination of elements and her quote of "SONG"!

You can click my link here to see more of the flags on Lenna's blog....it will make you smile! Thanks for visiting!
