I LIKE METAL A LOT

Can you tell!! I've just been obsessed again with metal, but on my worktable are some fragments of fabric and beads....so I see things taking a turn soon..... maybe.... if I let it happen!! I really want to start working some fiber and softness in again.... maybe not fiber.... not sure?!! What do you think? What are you attracted to when you look at my pieces? I'm interested in working in some mixed media, which is another excuse to buy more STUFF! I LOVE STUFF!! Then I'll need some more time to go with it!

Hi Sharon,

I think one of the things that truly attracts me to your work is the element of suprise you put in your pieces. You constantly challenge my expectations...( "I don't think I have ever thought to put those things together, but why not?? they look great together or look how one complements the other" )

Point in case is the pearl earrings. The coiled wires would not have been the first idea I would have thought to put with the pearls. But it's amazing and quite perfect together Sharon. The coils prevent the pearls from being to frufru good girl, and the pearls tone down the hard industeal bad girl look of the coils. So what you are left with is a wonderful light hearted set of rearrings that has captivated my imagination. :)

Wonderful Sharon! Yes, I know what you mean. I have some fibers here that are calling to me, begging to be included... And then, there is the clasp challenge - you know what I mean! Do you find it difficult to keep up with your ideas? I do!! LOL

Thank you Pattie and Renate for your insight, I really appreciate seeing my work through different eyes...it really helps!
Oh Renate, do I ever know what you mean, totally becoming unorganized...notes overflowing everywhere...sketches...craft items not even opened yet before I buy another....mind racing...interrupted sleep...being an artist I guess.

You know what I like most about your work Sharon? Everything. Okay, wait, that's not helpful. Right then. I love your aesthetic - it's sort of a rustic eclectic look that really appeals to me. Everything feels just a little bit rough around the edges (which I mean in the best way possible), but not at all hard, it's all still very feminine. That probably makes no sense. I also have really like it in the past when you've mixed fibers in with your awesome metalwork. Then again, you know what a fiber fruitcake I am.

Sharon, I love all of your work. So that's not helpful either. The religious imagery/reference you worked into your last few pieces was especially nice. I also loved the silk and thread you worked into your twisted wire pieces. I too know what it's like to have heaps of ideas swirling around. Kind of hard to settle, isn't it. Now that I think more, I can see fiber combined with the wrapped wire and pearls in the first photo. Oops, going off on a tangent of more ideas. Whatever you do, I'll be looking forward to seeing it!

Thank you Lilibulle, Kristen, Beth, and LeAnn!! Even though you all say you don't think you are being helpful, trust me, you really are!!
And it makes a lot of sense to me and I completely understand!
I do have definite ideas about religion, metal and fiber....and plan to work on that soon.

You have all been a tremendous help and I thank you again!

Yep, I like how you have done the pearl earrings too, but I love the last pair the best :)
I too liked the religious reflection in your recent pieces. What I most like is how you allow your creativity to take control, your pieces are rustic, yet feminine at the same time, kind of like the tomboy I am!!!

these are lovely. i am really loving silver wire wrapped jewelry these days. if you are interested in fiber, stampington has a new magazine called Art Quilting Studio that is really wonderful. Check it out if you get the chance, it is very inspiring with wonderful articles and work by Ruth Rae and others. It's becoming my new "thing", like I need another one!

i know i am looking back at a post you made a few months ago sharon, but i adore the earrings at the top of this page and had to take a peek. I love in your jewelry work that you can tell it was made by your hands - the bending, hammering, and wire wrapping!! It looks professional, but lovingly made. I also love the way you contrast the metal you love to work with, with other beautiful things. i just love your work! and it is interesting to read here that you were itching to dive into mixed media work, and now you have! : ) lenna
