Royal Bird ATC's

I created these bird atc's for Artchix "Royal Bird " ATC swap!! What could be more fun for me than birds?! But I must say it was a lot harder than I thought to keep the theme consistent with the 6 pieces, and actually they did not turn out at all liked I had wished, so I am a bit sad about that, but I had to go with it rather than a re-do. I still need to work on different techniques for backgrounds, that is what gives me the hardest challenge. I've been spending a lot of time trying new things, seems a lot of wasting time sometimes, although I know I am learning...but I still haven't found that look I love yet. These were done on scrapbook papers, ( I loooove papers!) and then I highlighted them with a white gel pen , and enhanced the color with Sennelier pastels, which have soooo much pigment in them, my fingers still have traces of stains.
Then I used Artchix Birds on a Wire collage sheet, and the crowns from the Royal ATC's sheet.
Can't wait to swap these with the other talented artists there! I think I'm taking a Slooooow Sunday tomorrow!!

They are wonderful! I can't imagine how they could be any better.
The first think I thought when I saw them was how different and yet how unified they all were.

I think they are lovely! Trying new things is never wasting time - even if you don't have something to show for it or it doesn't quite turn out. The birds are wonderful and I like how you combined them.

Sharon
Grouped together, these pieces have such impact! How you could come up with so many variations on a theme is amazing...and all with such detail. The little bird images are so adorable. I hope you'll share your bird ATC from the swap once you receive it! You've been incredible productive with all of your challenges and swaps! Please send some of that energy my way, I need it. :-)

Each card is like a little jewel, and the combined group's overall impression is full of rich color, striking images and fabulous detail. I love the fact that you're "playing" with different techniques. Awesome work, Sharon! Hugs, Terri xoxo

I quite like your backgrounds. In fact I like all of these. It amuses me to think of birds wearing crowns. It makes me think of the jays that keep swooping poor Alice in the back garden. And I think all of that experimentation and trying new things is part of the growth process. Wouldn't you get bored if you found the perfect thing? Have a lovely, slow Sunday. I my just join you in that.

sharon! i love your royal bird ATCs, so yummy. You know how i love the look of the white pen for an accent, and the small little image inside the ATC is so intiquing. Plus the way you've darkened the edges is so great; it really emphasises it. wow, i can't wait to try my hand at these ATCs -quick! i think the deadline is looming . . . thanks for the inspiration and hugs from lenna!!
