MRS. COURAGE

copyright sharon borsavage 2009

My new mixed media piece was created just because she had to come out, no challenges or swaps. She is taking me on one heck of a journey, and I'm still hanging on. The image of the lady is a fantastic reproduction image that Gale from Paper Whimsy has been making from her collection of antique books with vintage images. When I see these beautiful regal ladies, my heart melts, and I have to buy them and try to do something wonderful with them. I can say I'm pretty happy with the way this turned out. I feel like I am finally getting onto paper and mediums what is in my head, as far as images and feelings are concerned. And you know me, always with the bird, always wanting to fly! I also used some beautiful papers in here (I loooooove beautiful papers!), a part of a vintage book page, a vintage filigree flower from my collection, tiny colored blue rhinestones, and I stamped a piece of copper, and tinted the letters with acrylic paint. Let's not forget all the paint, and super heavy gel medium, which has just become my best friend. Thanks for always joining me on my journey!

Sharon, this is my top favourite of all the many favourites. The depth of this piece is amazing and all those layers. I want to reach out and touch it. Were this mine, I would hang it in my workspace as a beautiful message to myself. Wonderful, beautiful piece!

Oh Sharon, Mrs. Courage is just gorgeous, you are now on the right way to express yourself. I am really happy to read you about what you feel with such a work. And the fact you feel like you are getting onto paper what is in your head. That's the best for an artist.

Today i feel you are free and happy. Thank you to share this with us.

It was great to be able to look at the enlarged view, where I could clearly see the pretty rhinestones, the text, the flower.
All very pretty. Great job.
