ALCYONE

My daughter, Briana, named this necklace for me. Alcyone is a greek mythological figure that you can read about here. This post is about love above and beyond, as with Alcyone. Yesterday, as Briana went with me to my plasmapharesis treatment, she, out of love, and not being asked, took the time and discomfort to donate platetes while she was with me. Most people don't do it because of the 17 gauge needle, and platelets only last 5 days and then have to be discarded. I don't need platelets, they are for other autoimmune disorders and for cancer patients....I need plasma. But that is not the story. The story is that I am proud I raised a loving and unselfish woman. The necklace will be in my etsy shop tonight.

Great necklace, i really like the rivet in the middle to the metal. Unexpected and very cool.

You have a very generous daughter!

your new necklace is as beautiful as the story you told, sharon. i am finding it hard to put my feelings about this into words.

The metal part of this necklace has words etched into it! i have seen similar things you have done like this before, but still find it amazing. I can read the words 'wish' and 'imagine'. very special, both you & your daughter AND the necklace!!!

Sharon, what a great...you must be so proud of Briana. It must have been quite tough what she went thorugh - a 17 gauge needle! I have needle phobia so I can appreciate what she went through. She has a wonderful role model, and you have yourself an incredible daughter. I hope you are doing well and feeling good. Thinking of you!

What a wonderful story Sharon--it made me smile! If I need help (which I know I will :) with jewelry making, can you help? I kind of feel a new addiction coming over me ;)
