BABY STEPS

As you can tell, I have been spending a lot of alone time. Besides the usual juggling of exhaustion, of dealing with autoimmune, headaches, real job, and real life, I have been spending some moments here and there teaching myself to solder....rather slowly...baby steps, but getting there. I have wanted to make these earrings for myself  for probably 2 years now. It finally happened. They are not perfect, but that is good. I embrace imperfection, craggly little divets and spots that remind me of daily life. I am enjoying practicing sawing, I really like it. Soldering is more of a challenge only because of the shakiness of my hands, but I will persist!

These are for me......

This necklace I spent a long time working on also. It was a process of working through a puzzle of sorts, but I am very happy with the way it turned out. I used a few different techniques in this one, again, sawing the bird I am most proud of. The nest was fun to make, a technique I learned in Stephanie Lee's Homesteading Course. I incorporated my favorite bits and baubles of building a nest and home and a safe place. The necklace itself will take you on a journey, you just have to be courageous enough to begin.

Wishing everyone courage, for whatever reason you may need, whatever aspect of your life.

I am always grateful for you, your comments, and visits.

I am so thrilled for you that you made your earrings! Yay! They are gorgeous to me. I love the little imperfections. Life is like that. The imperfections give it texture.
And your necklace is truly lovely. The nest and the birdie are amazing. And I love the theme. I think we all need courage every day.
Thank you for sharing your art and life with us.
I hope you feel a little better soon.
Hugs,
Terri

Hi!

I have enjoyed your blog for awhile now. I too have an autoimmune disease that has greatly affected my life over the last 12 years or so. Though I am "disabled", not a word I like, I continue to find joy, strength, and motivation as well as a much needed calm in my creativity. It has truly been a lifesaver for me, for I feel it's helped me keep "me" alive when so many other aspects of myself have been about adjusting.

I've been teaching myself to solder lately too and also find sawing joyful. Your earrings and necklace are beautiful.

I hope you feel better. I also hope that on those bad days your creativity is able to help keep your spirits up like mine does for me.

Keep inspiring!

Those earrings are the sweetest, especially because you make them yourself. And the necklace is beautiful. Courage is just what I need, but difficult for me to drum up. I'm one to dip my toes in for a while before I jump in. Thanks for the encouragement!!!
