THE HOUSE THAT SHE BUILT

A couple of weeks ago I ordered a piece from the extremely talented Lynn Davis, and this house came along with it. I couldn't wait to get the piece I ordered, but when I saw this in person, I was so attracted to it, and the necklace really came together quickly. It's funny, because when I was a little younger, I never wanted to be home, always wanted to go out and do something......run, run, run. Well now, I usually can't wait to get home from work and relax in my house, my chair, my yard, my work table, and my bed . I have a very small house(and I like it that way, less cleaning, less stuff!), and have gotten to the point of trying to keep around only things that are important to me. My house means a lot more to me than it did years ago. It's more about how it makes me feel in the house than what it looks like anymore. Being with my family happens in the house, I eat here most often, I rest here, I love here, and the plus is that it is also where I grew up, and where my grandparents lived, in the same house. It makes me feel good, fuzzy and warm. I hope this little piece of jewelry represents the same!

Sharon you are amazing. You can move from one approach to another and it all still looks like your work and is all wonderful.

I share your love of home as well. It's quite a change from my younger years. It must be wonderful to live in your grandmother's home.

Thanks Kristen and LeAnn, I often think I must be viewed as a little strange since I keep having this desire to work in different styles, I just do what comes to me!
I like and appreciate many different styles and forms! I do love living in my grandmothers house, and am working on a piece of jewelry involving her, but it taking some time.

Sharon: That piece is so beautiful. I love what you said about your house. It is so special that you grew up there too. I feel what may be similar to your feelings..."things" don't mean so much anymore. I seem to just want to simplify my life and have what I really love around me.

Hi Sharon,

What a beautiful compliment you created for Lynn's little house!!

It's a very remarkable feeling when you reach a time in your life to realize most of what we have is just "thangs" Three years ago LW and I retired to create my dream of living in a beach town in Mexico :) We bought a 5'/8' trailer, then down sized our "thangs" to what would fit in the trailer. By the time we were done only our "treasure" made the trip down:) Now we fill our home with only the things we love!!

Sharon, Your necklace is very lovely; Lynn's little treasures are so much fun to work with.

I know how you feel; I live in the farm house my Grandparents built in the 1930’s. My parents moved to the farm when I was about 6 mo. Old, so it was the only home I knew in my youth. Now I have been back on the farm for 10 years and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. Debbie

Don't you just love it when you feel all warm and fuzzy? I'm sure your house is a charm and your necklace is enchanting! Too bad you are so far away, I would love to spend a few hours working with you...
