WATER LILIES
In my attempt to try to work through some of my color issues, I created this for the ABS challenge. I know, I know...it looks to me a lot like a Lorelei design! But hey, who can help it, she's super sweet, super influential, and a super great designer!! Well, I still don't know if I like it all that much, I really have a hard time working with vibrant colors, it's out of my comfort zone! So this was also my own personal challenge. I fell in love with these vintage glass beads when I found them at a flea market, and pictures cannot do the focal lampwork pendant justice, the colors inside are incredible!! It's a handblown piece by Tari Zarka of PA. I hand forged the clasp myself, gotta get that wire in there, that made me feel a little better! If any of you can share an opinion or suggestion, I'd really appreciate it.

I like it Sharon! It's funny that you say it's vibrant. I think it's subdued. I think your tastes must run like mine...if it looks like it comes from dirt, I like it...give me brown any day! The clasp is great too. Very creative! Also, it doesn't look too Lorelei...let's just say "inspired" by Lorelei :-)
I love it Sharon, although I agree with Doreen, the colors are a bit on the subdued side. But very pretty and very pretty color combos. Hmmm . . . I think I shall have to throw some wild colors in the package of goodies I am sending you. Let's see if I can heave you off the edge of your comfort zone. :-)
I love the colors and the stones you have chosen. I think it looks like a Sharon Original with your cool wire clasp. Beautiful work!
Thanks Doreen and Kristen, it's amazing to me how we all perceive color so differently! The blue beads are the ones I would call vibrant, but I agree with Doreen, I like all colors to have a little bit of brown in them!
Thanks so much SharonP, that means a lot to me!
Sharon, It is very pretty, and like Doreen I don't think it looks like Lorelei or vibrant. The use of the blue is what doesn't look like you to me. But it is a beautiful necklace and it looks to me like one that would sell very well. If that means anything?
Debbie
Exactly Debbie, I agree!! Thanks for sharing, I appreciate it! I looked at your new necklace last night , started to comment and decided I really wanted to go to your flickr pics...and somehow got distracted...anyway, I loved the design and I would really like to see those stones close up!!
Sharon, you have created a beautiful necklace! I agree with the rest of the gals, you were inspired by Lorelei but it is still you, I love it, it reminds me of the blue skies I see in the Colorado mountains!
I didn't forget about you either, I had put something together for you, but then found out one of my good glass bead buddies is going to be in Taos too, so I am going to get a little something special to add to your bracelet!
It is a lovely necklace, Sharon. And I also find it more subdued than vibrant. You are probably more in your comfort zone with earth tones; like amber, carnelian etc. And I know you like greens. But you are right to try and expand your horizons (does that make sense? I am not sure how to phrase my meaning in English), because that is how we grow. Keep going!
Thanks Tammy and Renate for the encouragement!! I am trying Renate, you are right, that is how we grow!
I thought my ears were ringing!!
lol
I for one, thinks this looks very Sharon and Not Lorelei. I agree though...blue beads are a tough color to pair with other colors. Do you work with a color wheel at all? Sometimes I drag mine out when I'm having trouble with color combinations. It might help!?
No, I don't Lorelei, and I've only meant to pick one up at least one hundred times, why I can't bring myself to do that I don't know, must be that suffering artist thing or something!
