Geek Love

This collage was created for a weekly challenge hosted by Nancy At Crowabout, and it was a blast! Nancy gives you a sheet of collage elements to work with and you create what you want using at least three of the elements, but she challenges you to use as much as you can. This week's sheet was a lot of fun, and the first thing I thought of when I started working on it was one of my all time favorite books, "Geek Love". A very strange book, but a great story that I can relate to in so many ways, and the characters always stick in my head!
Last week I was kind of timid on the challenge, but this week I decided to let loose, and I feel so much better, if that makes any sense!! And I think I'm in love!!! Ohhh what to do???, torn between jewelry and art!!

It's great, Sharon! I love the stuff you've been creating. Each one has such uniqueness to it. They are fun to look at.

Do both! Your heart is big enough for more than one love.

I totally agree with Renate..you have a big heart! :-) And more than enough creativity to go around. This piece is really amazing. So many fun details to look at!

Love, love it! And what to do? As others have said...both! You don't need to limit yourself to just one thing. You can do what ever your heart pleases. Soon, I predict, you will find this new work stepping into and crossing over with your jewelry. And your jewelry will feed the other. And most importantly, remember to feed your soul.

Go on Sharon, do what your heart and soul ask for. Love the surrealist way of this work.

It looks great Sharon! I've got to try and make some ATC's. I haven't done it yet.

Definitely keep doing both art forms! When you get tired of one then you can switch to the other. That's what I do, lol!

There is room for both - don't give up one. You are a talented jewelry designer yet you clearly have a talent for the other too.
Don't fret over it - just do it!

Definitely do both! Really cool piece, Sharon. I seem to remember that book...

Hi Kiddo!!!

This ATC is so amazing!!! Makes me smile amd wonder what each character's "fish that got away story" is!! :)

Maybe you can satisfy both addictions. I always make a collage tag, card or gift box to go with my piece of jewelry when I give it as a gift. I would think making ATCs to tuck into a gift or purchase would be the ultimate!!

Thank you all again....I appreciate everything you ladies say and think!!

You can do both. I alternate jewelry one week, book art the next. However, if a project brings out the OCD in me, I'll extend the time allotment until I'm satisfied.

This just sets it off, you did GREAT!!! I love everything about it ;) I really think you're onto something here Sharon, you have an eye for putting it all together whether it's jewelry or ATC cards, I love seeing them all!!

oh Sharon, I am torn between jewelry and art every day- I think I have finally made peace with my alter egos...
I give you permission to "do" and "love" both.

One of the beauties about art is that so many medias and mediums flow into each other. I find I jump around in so many medias that I make myself dizzy.

I saw your piece before I read the title or post and I immediately was transported to the world of the carnival. I was thinking of the HBO series Carnivale, but when I read Geek Love inspired you, I knew where you were coming from! I read that book years ago and the story still stays with me. It was a twisted tale (to include Arturo's), but so well written. Great job!
