CENTERED

Believe it or not, symmetry gives me a hard time, makes my life difficult, and really scares me sometimes. But never fear, I won the battle, and prevailed with the idea I had, (even though it took 3 days!), and this was the result...pretty close to what I had envisioned for a change. I was pleasantly suprised!! Thanks for taking a peek!

Sharon,

This is absolutly incredible and you hid your symmetry aversion ever so well! :) Like you I have real problems with it, but this piece is just glorious and is all the beautiful muted colors that fall is all about!!

Wow! I love that! Is that bit of the pendant apple coral? I love the earth tones, what a great warm piece for fall!

This is such a pretty piece...with a mysterious focal. :-) We're the opposites...I actually have a hard time working asymmetrically!

Gorgeous necklace, Sharon! That focal bead reminds me of a pumpkin - what kind of bead is it?

Thank you ladies!! The large focal bead is a ceramic Raku bead I picked up at a bead show early in the year....I wish I had picked up many more!! I don't know much about the process...or even if it is considered ceramic, but I know they told me it is Raku. We'll have to inquire with LeAnn about that!!

Such a pretty piece, and just perfect for the season! LOVE your focal bead - at first glance I really thought it was a pumpkin!!! Hmmm . . . frightened of symmetry? You'd NEVER know it! Hugs, Terri xoxo

Perfect fall color palette. I think that focal bead looks a lot like a pumpkin to me! Enjoy the day! Erin

Hey there, I love the symmetry too. I especially like how the beads feel graduated from the center to the back but when you look at it closely they aren't quite.

Raku, is a quick low temp (compared to porcelain or stoneware) firing that uses post firing reduction. In other words, red hot pieces get pulled out of the kiln and but in a bin with materials like paper, saw dust, etc, and the lid gets popped on till the pieces are cool enough to handle. That's what gives that dark smoky look to the unglazed part of the bead. This by the way is a very simplified explanation of the process.

So funny - I have the opposite problem. My brain will NOT do Asymmetry no matter how hard I try to force it. Love the necklace - the colors are so rich and warm and the silver just adds the right spark.
