Something new here. I am taking an online course with Miss Suzi Blu...called Goddess and Poet. Although I was formally schooled in art and drawing, I was never comfortanle drawing faces, at least the way I had envisioned them to be. I want them to have soul, and I think I may be getting close. For me, it is not about realism, or perfection, it is about the capturing the essence, the mood, creating an atmosphere. I have a loooong way to go here, this is just the very beginning.
Up next....color!

Sharon, thanks for visiting my blog, and for your wonderful comments :)
I love the face! I haven't done that workshop, is it good?
Gorgeous Sharon - such a wonderful character sketch.
She has soul, Sharon! I know what you mean--when I try to describe Suzi's faces who've never seen them, I'm always trying to think of the word, and that's it. I'd say you're ready for Lesson 2 (Don't you just love watching Suzi create her faces in her videos--that's an art form in itself!)
you are definitely capturing essence... great job! such a talented woman!!
beautiful sharon!! you are right , for perfection we have pictures.. for atmosphere and style, drawings.. well done !!
I know everyone else has said this but you've done a beautiful job! I think what gives her soul is her eyes, they're full of feeling.

I am very drawn to her eyes. And you know what they say about the eyes being the windows to the soul. Enjoy your class and I'll be looking foward to seeing the next bits.
Love how you draw the lips.
BTW, love the antiquish folky look of your jewelry!
She is so beautiful Sharon, her look is so intense. Great work lady.
Great job on your art. You are lucky, no matter how hard I tried, I could never draw something that beautiful. Sigh... Keep up with the good work!

Sharon,
maybe you are being to impatient with yourself. Give yourself permission to be yourself. Try to see your art through our eyes. We have no preconceived notions of how your art should look when you breath soul into your work. Because we don't we are able to see the soul your heart and hands have already given your creations. Now you must release your preconceptions of what it should look like. It's only then that you too will be able to see the soul your heart asks your hands to create.
Pattie ;)
