ESTHER'S SWEET SONG

click on the photos to see the detail

This one is for moi!! Esther will be so proud of my French! hehe!! Esther of Mes Illusions Baroques.....my dear friend and kindred spirit, sent me this gorgeous pendant in an exchange a while ago, and I knew I wanted to do something special with it, for moi!! She also sent me the musical link connectors...they are so original and gorgeous!! I have to say to all my jewelry friends that Esther blows me away . She is super talented, and her exuberance pours out into everthing she makes. She not only makes jewelry, but most of the time makes all of the components. She makes art, mixed media, pendants, resin, felt, charms, wirework, solder, waxing, and I think EVERYTHING! The little black and white tag at the top of the necklace she also made.....it is a little charm to put on my pieces for when I sell them, and my name is on the other side , which you will see in other posts this week. So all I did was add the bird's nest I made out of steel , and some turquoise rice beads, amber chips, and some home made chain. I reeeeeallly love this necklace, because it represents to me the flight of love from one friend in one country to another, the lyrical components are the sweet song of the bird, (and us gabbing through email all the time!) and the nest and the links are the building of a relationsip of two people so far away from each other, yet so close. Kisssssss Kiiiiiiiiissss Esther!! This one's for you!!

FALL

The weather was cool the past few days, and a few tiny leaves have started to fall from our birch tree in the yard. Finally, I was moved to use these lovely ceramic leaves from Erin of Every Heart Crafts. She makes the prettiest little leaves, I loved dressing them up!

available on etsy.

JAZZED

These were influenced by a little bit of music..... ok, a lot of music, and a longing for working with metal.....it was pretty much that simple. Sometimes I have to move away from metal to become refreshed and realize just HOW MUCH I love it! The card that the earrings hang from was an old display design, but it will be changed for my next show in October, hopefully to Ester's bird that she designed for me! Just wanted to show how they look hanging. Can't wait to spend my weekend with paper and metal, and my husband....not neccessarily in that order!

POND AND GEISHA

"POND"

"POND GEISHA"

Just the slight drop in temperature has me wanting to go outside and enjoy some of nature before it's over for the year. There is a calm that I usually feel around autumn, things get quieter, and the flowers that are blooming now seem to glow at dusk. I have always loved flowers, and I think I finally have found a way to use them in my work that is really appealing to me. When I made the bracelet, which also features the cutest heart charm from Chinook Designs, it instantly reminded me of the colors and light reflections in my small pond outside my back door. Now, if only I could open the door and see the Geisha walking back there too!!

BOO!! AND BLING

copyright sharon borsavage 9/7/2009

This is a new ATC created for Nancy B.' s week 51 Crowabout challenge. I really had fun with this one in my little twisted way again, but ohhh it felt good!!

Then, I felt I needed to balance my brain out with some new jewelry, and these fabulous little glass beads that Cindy Gimbrone made, where she made a groove around the edge of the glass so it made a channel to accept wire, and she sells these wire wrapped already! How talented is she?!! When I saw these beads it was like my mouth was watering looking at them....so I had to do something pretty, but I kinda have something a little more rustic planned for the rest of them I have! I'm still debating about whether to oxidize them or not, probably will, so I didn't put them on etsy yet. Like I said...my brain goes from creepy mode to pretty mode, like when I eat chips and then have to have a candy bar, right? How about you?

ART AND ART JEWELRY

"HOLD LIFE HIGH"

"THINK OF ME"

I am so happy to have a holiday weekend, two days in a row off that I never have, since I work 3 Saturdays out of 4, so I am taking full advantage of this time! The art piece is a piece I created for Helga's weekly challenge at My ARTisitic Life. We were supposed to create a piece showing someone holding something. I really had a hard time with this, and I tried a different approach and really wanted to experiment with layering. I am calling it finished, and it is growing on me a little now, but I'm still unsure. It is what it is, and I feel I benefitted by trying some different techniques, and have realized just how hard this can be sometimes. It is making me feel more confident though to push on to do some pieces in a different style, so it was a good beginning for me.
The jewelry came a bit easier. I had this connector from Melissa at Chinook Designs for a long time now, but just finally decided what to do with it. I paired it up with some gorgeous pearls and faceted jade, and a pretty little Green Girl charm. The back of the charm says " think of me"., but you'll have to go over to etsy to see it!!

Happy Labor Day all!!!
