NUMBERS

I was really afraid the muse had left for good. I have not been the same these last few months, and the art left almost 2 months ago. I had no desire, and didn't know why. Maybe it is just as simple as needing a break, but whatever, it's back, at least for now.
This is a postcard for my art group with the theme of numbers. Funny how it appealed to me because as a kid, I hated numbers, hated math, it was the dreaded fear of numbers! Now, they are somehow very significant in different ways in my life.

LOOKING GLASS

I wish I had a looking glass sometimes, but this is as close as I am going to get. These colors and materials really spoke to me all at once. I love the veining in the moss opals, and how they remind me of how fragile life is, but tied to a silk we stay connected and hold on to hope that we will find our way.

I am still feeling the connection working with these old relics I found at the flea......flooded with memories of catholic childhood but more importantly how much I have changed and what it means to me now.....it stirs me and moves me in ways again that are unexplainable but good, so I don't question that anymore.

WHAT I'M DOING NOW

This is a little peek at a personal project I started to work on recently. I have always loved embroidery, the little stitches, the colors. I started this a year ago and didn't get very far, but for some reason it has been calling me and I am really becoming obsessed with it. I signed up for this e class by Teresa McFayden of My Minutia , and I love her style.....as I said a year ago. Guess I'll just go with it. It is a big departure from my neutral palette, so the color is making me feel good and alive.

BTW, I've had that box of threads since Briana was 3, she is now 21!

Does anyone else get those feelings of loving things that they can't explain why, like this? Little stitches, handwork, seeing colors together, fabrics, textures, cloth, white, string, ribbon??????

This is a big fat thank you to my beautiful friend Lesley in England, who sent me a wonderful RAK yesterday of lovely things that she makes, and I was floored when I got the package! I cannot wait to use this handmade rose petal soap, but it's almost too pretty to open!
Lesley makes the most beautiful cards I have seen, and she sent me this one with my favorite bird...and a super gorgeous heart shaped journal she made. Aaaaaand, the handmade designer fabric lavender sachets. It's like heaven here.
