ON A ROLL

I needed to come up with another way to transport some of my jewelry for presentation, so I made this fabric roll, and am pretty happy with the way it turned out. Last time I took my jewelry to show a client , if you remember, I took it in a vintage suitcase, and secured the pieces in fabric covered styrofoam with floral pins. It looked great, but the pins were difficult for my sometimes painful fingers to maneuver through the fabric covered foam. I also think the places on the jewery I put the pin through may have weakened some of my components (jump rings). So this is my new solution. Totally freeform, I stitched some pockets through muslin and batting, and stitched tabs at the top to tie the pieces in place, and the body of the piece can rest in the pocket and be protected. Then I stiched that to a piece of great toile I found for the outside. Then I can roll it up to carry, and it's easy peasy, or so I think! The test will be Sunday. It's gotta be better than plastic bags. I had fun with the stitching too! Now all I want is a new sewing machine with some nifty stitches on it!! My friend Lenna showed me one a few months ago, and it's still in the back of my mind!
