I am coming to realize that my love of vintage rosaries, buttons, and the past is my way of seeking comfort, of things that I am tied to in my past, things I love, and things I am familiar with.

I wish everyone a wonderful week. I hope you feel warm and comforted as I do.

It is always a pleasure to work with such wonderful bead artisans like I have done here. Gaea's beautiful ceramic star stamped heart and dreamy aqua beads, and Patricia Johnson's incredible glass creations. I just added some heavy 14 gauge copper for that lovely weighty feel on the wrist, and my own handmade clasp and jump rings. I just love the look of handworked metal. This is what I have been doing, in between doctor visits, work, and sleep. This is what I enjoy......after a good nap.

Thanks for visiting, and have a great weekend!

I had some time this weekend to work on things that I have been meaning to try for a while. Believe it or not, I have never used a soldering iron in all the years I have been making jewelry, and had one unopened in a package for at least 2 years. So wala, here you have my first soldered pendant, with an image from paper whimsy, a piece of vintage millinery flower from my collection, and a piece of vintage text. Errr correction, this is my second pendant...I cracked the first one! It is rough, due to increasingly shaky hands, and a bit wonky, but oh how I love it...her!

This is a new journal page I made. I realize more and more that I have an odd love of all types of paper, and my approach to this type of art is very random and haphazard and I really enjoy that.
Thank you all for your visits, and I wish everyone a fabulous week!

Here is a quick version of the story of my creative thought process. When I started on these earrings I was so anxious to use these vintage materials, rosary and what I consider an exquisite vintage brass chain. Just holding these makes me a little nuts, and if you are a vintage person you know what I mean. Anyway, the feeling of the rosary instantly starts my mind wandering to God, and my life, and my beliefs....and then I started really being interested in the white colors in the chain and the stones, and then I thought of reverence, being in awe of something, Don't get me wrong, I fear the thought of sounding like a holy roller because that I am far from. I respect all religions, and when you hear me talk of my faith, it is just that, mine, and it works for me. It doesn't mean you have to be catholic to understand some of my creations, in fact I hardly consider myself catholic, just faithful. It means you have to understand feeling, what creating from the soul means, and understanding. I guess I wish I could convey the power that I feel from these pieces, a indescribable respect. To think of the hands that have held these rosaries before me is profound to me, the strength and power they must have transmitted. I get chills thinking about it. I hope you feel something , anything, for a response of any kind is better than none.

I made this altered envelope recently where the theme is Asian. Creating artwork is lots of fun and very freeing....I happen to like the way this one turned out.

Thanks for visiting and taking a peek!

This is my new favorite bracelet....TERRA. I really had fun making the copper caps, you all know how I love to pound metal!, and I just love the colors, which really surprised me, because I am usually not a pinkish kind of gal. These pinks spoke differently though, and combined with the rust color of the copper....ahhh, it did my heart good! Ahhh, it's the little things you know.

As titled, I continue to work in my journal pretty consistently, without preconceived direction, and I am pretty happy with what is happening. I have more pages to show in future posts. When I need to relax at night, and watch some TV, I have been taking a smallish box of random pieces of text, images, or whatever I pull out of my ginormous collection of papers, scissors, glue, and sit down while watching TV and see what I can come up with. I may or may not add paint or whatever later. I am enjoying this process.

My favorite flea market vendor came through for me again with these gorgeous broken rosary pieces....she knows me well! I sooo love the crucifix with the thread wrapped around it....I am not sure of the significance. I thought it was loose and they wrapped the thread to secure it, but it really doesn't seem to be loose, but the character that thread has created for me far surpasses the reason, and I sit and think of the fingers that ran over that thread to make it so well worn, the abundant faith and power of the human soul. It will be hard to part with , if I do.

The hankies were a score that I wasn't planning on, but when she showed me the lot of them she got with pinned notes still on them, dates, and locations. They look like possibly they were from maybe a hankie club and exchange of sorts, an older version of our own art swaps now, and we see still that the desire of connection with people through exchanges is still so powerful. To want to exchange a personal part of yourself with others and connect is so basic through the generations.

Thanks for all your encouraging words and support. I am grateful for that and the connection you all give to me....a very beautiful one.

TEACH PEACE. Sounds good to me. Maybe that's why I made it, as a reminder. The image in the pendant was taken from a larger collage I had made, and put in the bezel and filled with ice resin, combined with some of my favorite components of vintage crucifix and gemstones, and crystals.

Earrings are a big part of my everyday life, so I just keep making them, and really never tire of it. I just adore gemstones, metals, and MAKING things in general, especially if they swing, sway or dangle!

The art piece is a new one I just made for a had to include lace. I thought "Embrace" seemed fitting, since that is what I am trying to do this year....embrace everything, the good and the bad, whatever.......just go with it. Actually a good friend of mine put a bug in my ear about how she is living in the moment, that where she is now is where she needs to be, so I am trying. Health issues continue, but I am rolling with it. It feels good to do some art again.

Thanks for visiting and your means the world.
