LOVE OF PAPER

Every time I do a collage I fall in love all over again with paper . I have had a recent obsession with creating mica veils on woman in my art...it is about mystery, the unknown, and what may be....the possibilities.

Hope everyone is having a creative week!
As always, thanks for visiting!

I AM SO FORTUNATE

I was recently very fortunate to win a giveaway from Gaby over at Colorful Adventures blog! I won this amazing handmade leather journal that Gaby made herself,  filled with so many pages, and now my mind is whirling at the possibilities of filling it up! Gaby is a super talented artist, creating beautiful soldered pendants and incredible mixed media pieces. You won't be disappointed when you visit her blog!  Gaby also included a beautiful handmade postcards and another smaller card, and wrapped them in such a lovely paper!!!  Thank you Gaby for your generosity, I love all of my gifts!

I had to share these photos of some papers I received form a faraway friend.....ooooh, paper makes me swoon, and these do just that! I adore every little snippet, and my friend included darling little envelopes she made out of paper, tiny tags with inspiring words, and teeny tiny paper journals...so cute, and I know I will fill them with more art! There were far too many papers to show, but I think you get the idea, and if you are a journaler, or collager, you know the excitement of paper!!It's been a great mail week already!

I hope you are all having a great week, and thank you all for being a part of my daily inspiration, you are all wonderful!

BEGIN AGAIN

Yesterday I was inspired to finally pick up on creating a journal that I actually stated 2+ years ago, when i signed up for an online class by the wonderful artist Kelly Kilmer!  I have admired Kelly's style, techniques, and her blog for a loooong time. I am curious if anyone else does this, say, starts a class and doesn't finsih it for some reason, then longs to do it, but just doesn't , until finally you push and MAKE yourself try, and then you wonder, WHY did I procrastinate for so long?  It never ceases to amaze me!
Well, I find this process very different, and a bit scary, but that's why it is fun, and I feel I NEED to try new things, I crave to know new things. I am not sure of how this came out, I am fairly happy with it, but, well, I have to get used to unchartered territory.  Writing in a journal is new to me, and I want to try to get past that phobia of not writing, so with this one I let it fly!
I think if you visit Kelly's blog here, you  will see she posts everyday, always sharing tips and techniques, and although I only ever signed up for one class, she shares of a wealth of info in her classes.

Thanks for visiting today, and as always, your wonderful comments!

MEASURING UP

this is a piece of a mixed media necklace I made recently

That is the thing I guess I always have in the back of my mind...measuring up. How about you? Even though I say it doesn't matter, I find myself measuring and comparing myself to others all the time, and I am trying and working to release myself from this thought. I think it is self destructive, and as I speak out loud now I am reminding myself to go back to my motto this year, and that is to try my best. That, I know I am doing. I am curious to know how everyone else handles the self criticism and self induced guilt...or are you free of this, and how do you do it?!!! I am trying.

Believe me when I say I did not stage these two photos! This is my workmat, and I am winding down what has been a feverish pitch of working these past few days getting ready for a showing. Phew!

Thanks for stopping by, and sharing your comments, stories, and friendship!
