INTERTWINED

I recently met a terrific new artist, jewelry artist, and fabric artist, in work of all places! Which just goes to show you how close we all can actually be to one another. Nancy, of Blue Violet Designs, came into my workplace for help with a tile selection, which she mostly figured out herself! She has a wonderful sense of color, of course, she is an artist!, and it shows on her work too. Nancy gifted me with this amazing pin that she made out of felt, embroidery stitching, swarovski's, and and fabric. I apologize for the poor color of the photos, but it's late. I love this little pin, and I am amazed at her generosity. I think Nancy and I will be sharing some more arty type things soon. Take a look at her blog. Besides some amazing lampwork and sterling jewelry, her choices of beads are crazy good, she likes photography, and you can see some of that there as well. Maybe she will share more of her creations with us. I am grateful to Nancy for what she has shared with me!

Oh, the background for this picture is my pathetic attempt at Teresa McFayden's Freestyle embroidery that I started a few months ago. As you can see, I didn't get too far, but I do still love to do it. I will eventually pick it up again...maybe tomorrow!

UNIVERSAL KNOWLEDGE AND BEAUTY

As the title suggests, I think these are two attributes that anyone would feel fortunate enough to have, so they came to mind as themes for 2 atc's for a friend. I think I like doing these so much because so much can be said with so little, and they are still so open to interpretation.
Hope you enjoyed, thank you for visiting...I really love your comments!

FAITHFUL

The weather is helping me feel "pinkier" lately, but I never stray far from my toned down color palette, and that comforting word I treasure so much....FAITH. It has been a difficult week here, multiple teeth problems, even as I type this the painkillers are in full force. I have struggled all my life with continual dental issues, this is nothing new, but is has gotten me down more than a few times, and I find myself growing very tired and depressed. Combined with some problems from a car accident last summer, it is becoming increasingly hard to stay positive. When I don't feel good it is hard to concrentrate....I take a few days off to give myself room, and then I start again, mostly because I sooooo look forward to talking and exchanging ideas with all of you. So, when , or if you get down, what helps you to bounce back....I would like to hear, and possibly discover some new techniques. In any case, I will continue to keep the faith.
Thank you again for visiting.

BRAVE NEW WORLD

"Front and Center"

"Thine Eyes"

This is my journey into my brave new world of creation. I am laying low on the swaps, cutting back big time, and creating to create for a while. Making these 2 atc's was really therapeutic...I feel I am transported somewhere else when I make these, to another place and time...I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel so good and I feel that I am pasting thoughts together, some so primitive , it's almost eery, but real. I know I probably sound like a babbling lunatic, I just can't quite describe the feeling. Do you know what I mean? I can't find the words.

I made "Front and Center" using a combination of collage images ,that face was a freebie from a Somerset issue and it really grabbed me. I am sure that it is someone I should know or recognize....I am bad at remembering things like that...history..then I added some pieces of old sewing patterns, and then stamped on top using Golden molding paste that I colored. The crown I cut out of thin copper sheet.

"Thine Eyes" was made using collage images again, thin layers of napkins, and again more colored molding paste and some markers. I really like the texture of tissue paper, napkins, and the patterns.

I see more of this in my future, and must somehow work all this into my jewelry. But for now I am just going with the flow, wherever that may be. My advice for the weekend, go forth and create, whatever, however that may be, and enjoy!
Thanks for visiting and your constant support.

COCOON

A new necklace, I know this will be one of my favorites of all time...it just feels right, and flowed right out of me. It reminded me of a cocoon....protection...warmth. These are the best times, when for no apparent reason, it just happens.
Thanks for looking friends.

OPINIONS

Lately I have been dealing with a tiny internal fued . I love the fact that after many years of non art, I have found myself again, and can't even express to you how creating art in different mediums has changed my life. I enjoy exchanging with so many people, getting to meet people from all over the world, and bits of their life also, and to see that we are all so much alike. BUT, I do so many swaps that I have come to miss the creation just for me...just to play, just to let it happen. I made a few atc's the other night for a exchange. I realized how much I missed making these as I did in the beginning...just to make them. So this was one I made just to create, and as it turns out, it told quite a story .
Something to think about.

Thanks for visiting and I wish for everyone a beautiful week of creating!

DREAMER

Yes, I finally took the big plunge into resin, and I am enjoying it! The look on this girls face almost instantly transports me to another time. The image reminded me of when I was a little girl, and my mom would sing a lot when we were in the house, and she often sang the song Beautiful Dreamer. When I was 10 years old or so, my parents bought me a small inexpensive organ, and that song was in the songbook, although I don't remember who wrote it.
It will always be with me, and a memory of a simpler time, a wonderful time. Such small activities at the time mean the world to me now.....so I try to keep them alive. Do any of you carry a favorite song from your childhood? I'd love to hear about it! Thank you for visiting, you all mean the world to me.
