GIFTS

Why is it when summer comes everything goes crazy and I barely have time to come up for air? Anyone else feel like that? I want to blog everyday and fatigue usually wins the battle, but I keep on trying! Today I would like to share some incredible birthday gifts sent to me by my dear friend Dorthe from Denmark. Dorthe has a beautiful blog called Den Lille Lade, and here you can see the gorgeous dolls Dorthe creates! You will be amazed at her talents and you will soon see there is not a kinder soul around than Dorthe, she is the sweetest gal ever, I love her to pieces!

An amazing doll made by Dorthe!

and then there is all these luscious goodies she made me also!

This card Dorthe made is something special, she is so wonderful with collage, and all the yummy details of texture, color and how she uses vintage bits and pieces, ooooohhh, I am in love!

I love my gifts and am super spoiled! Thank you Dorthe, I feel blessed!

Thanks for visiting everyone and enjoy your weekend!

WAX & WANE

As is typical with me, I am now on a jewelry roll, and working diligently on some new pieces that should be done soon.  I always seem to wax and wane, just like the seasons, jewelry, then art, or both, and then it catches up with me, and no matter how hard I try, or want to, it is so hard to do both, and that part always makes me sad.  No matter which I am working on, the other is like an anguish always yearning to be free. Sounds dramatic, but that is what it feels like at times.
Here are two recent pairs of earrings I  made and am glad to say they sold very quickly! Happy days! As a consolation gemstones always make me smile!
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you are having a great week!

RISING

Today I want to share some jewelry I recently made. It's been a while, it's seems like forever. Pieces are strewn all over my worktable for weeks, but my fingers don't seem to move in that direction and I don't really understand why. That is a lifelong mystery, why and when I pick up the tools and stones and make something, I am just glad it continues to happen at a reasonable pace.

Of course I am always drawn to the same components, things I love, neutrals, calming colors, soft textures, fibers, clear tones, worn and vintage pieces that have character and show signs of another time, another person's touch perhaps.

I am fond of tactile qualities.

Making jewelry like this is my journey.   I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I am grateful for your visits, and your comments.

JEKYLL & HYDE

Sometimes I feel like this!

And sometimes I feel like this!

And both of these ideas just have to come out of me and onto paper somehow, and I just do it.  They make me happy, but only for a while, and then I have to do it all over again. But I can always go back and look later, and then I like it in a different way, and usually learn something new too.
Art is great that way. It teaches you if you let it.

Thanks for being so kind to visit and I always love your comments!
I hope you are all having an artful week!

FLOWER GIRL

Her eyes are lopsided and I am certain things are crooked, but I do love her anyway! I drew her recently , rather quickly, for a monthly prompt, of flowers, and although the photo doesn't show it, her right eye is colored in green. She made me happy this week. I did something different.

Wishing everyone a great weekend, be brave, do something different!

GEMSTONES 101

I thought today I would share some recent jewelry I have been working on. It seems my love of gemstones
will never change, I am always in awe of their natural , simple, and organic beauty. Their perfect imperfections always shine through, very similar to people I think, and that is the best part!
Lately I have really enjoyed trying to learn more about stones, their qualities and properties. In the necklace I made I fell in love with the stone that dangles at the bottom called selenite. It was named after Selene, Greek goddess of the moon, and is known to bring mental clarity.  It appears to have a moonlike glow. I have attached a small shard of kyanite on top of it, which promotes peaceful energy.
The earrings are made using some gorgeous labradorite briolettes.  Labradorite is a protection stone, giving you clarity of mind and protection from negative energy.

I hope you enjoyed the brief gemstone 101 lesson! There is so much to learn about stones, and it is fascinating!
Thank you for visiting and always your thoughtful and kind words!
